Your Responsibilities

As an Electrical Project Engineer for John Deere Construction Forestry Division located in Kernersville, NC, you will plan and manage software system design efforts for Deere-Hitachi excavator new product programs. In addition, you will:

  • Develop and maintain electrical software requirements documents and specifications for 13-47 metric ton Deere-Hitachi excavators. Own product design guidelines and documentation of the product line software intellectual property.
  • Following the Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP), develop & execute project plans, determine & resolve critical path issues, and communicate design status to management, partners, and suppliers.
  • Drive commonality of software features, architecture, components, best practices and development tools usage with other Deere product lines and Hitachi
  • Provide work direction to software development resources for creation and evaluation of software solutions.
  • Support PV&V to develop software test & analysis plans. Lead the resolution of subsystem and component level technical issues both internally and with outside suppliers.
  • Lead module/QIT efforts to improve quality of software & electrical systems and provide rapid response to factory & field issues.
  • Assist with software and electrical hardware development & troubleshooting as needed, supporting three vehicle factories (Kernersville, NC; Indaiatuba, Brazil, & Langley, British Columbia)

What Skills You Need

  • 2 or more years of professional product development engineering experience.
  • Experience with engineering problem solving methods
  • Experience working in a team-based environment and collaborating on problem solving and resolution of technical issues
  • Prior experience following new product development & delivery processes to bring new products to market
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience delivering presentations and explaining complex engineering issues and solutions

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 3 or more years of software development or testing experience, or 5
    years of product engineering experience, design, or test.
  • Experience working with Deere-Hitachi excavators
  • Experience in the design and development of electrical systems or software for off road equipment.
  • Experience with CAN communications protocol and J1939/ISO 11783 standards.
  • Experience with CAN tools (CANAlyzer, CANsniff, CANape, etc.)
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience with CREO and Capital Harness

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
