Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to the following:
Performs production mail outs for the Kernersville Medical Center registered veterans patients nationwide. Verify outgoing mail filesheet of names and addresses against the prepared mailer to account for the names on the file list. Separate and date stamps each piece of mail (regular mail, registered mail, proof of delivery mail, and certified mail) and ensures the correct postal/UPS rates are applied by the metering machines. Assist customers on mail outs including use of the most cost-effective mailers such as flat mailer, flat rate mailer, or UPS proper packaging to meet Postal Services regulations and UPS mail requirements. General
Experience:
Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of handling returned mail, sufficient to segregate returned undeliverable mail, retrieve and update the addressee file, or returned to senders; Ability to operate government vehicle to deliver mail to facilities on station and offsite locations as warranted. Valid drives licenses it required; Knowledge using various types of mailers to appropriately process, align and meter (window letters, non-window letters, business return envelopes, flat mailer, one fee mailers, and UPS mailers) nation-wide mailing; Knowledge of the of UPS website for mailing flat mailers and small package freight to use of UPS package weighing for determining postage costs for UPS (ground, air, priority and overnight delivery)and to use UPS processing system in terms of weight, rate charges, and tracking numbers for outgoing mail; knowledge of operating mail inserting equipment and mail metering equipment, in order to monitor the mail metering machines funds availability status and inform the supervisor when funding is needed; and program the mail sorting equipment; ensuring each letter are properly aligned accommodate any letter size. Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 Years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-04. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements:
The work requires physical exertion. Long periods of standing in processing production mail outs, operating mail sorting and metering equipment. Long periods of walking in the delivery and pick-up of mail and inter-office correspondence, lifting material weighing up to 50 LBS; and reaching, stooping, bending are also required to perform assigned duties. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
