The Medicine Service Cardiology Department of the Salisbury VA Healthcare System is seeking a physician with training, expertise in adult clinical cardiology for a possible joint appointment with Wake Forest University/Wake Forest Baptist Health with practice location mostly at the Kernersville Health Care Center near Winston Salem. The ideal candidate will be board certified/eligible in cardiology with level 2 or 3 echocardiography training, advanced imaging skills including Cardiac MRI and/or Cardiac CT. The cardiologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive outpatient clinical cardiac services care as well as echocardiography, stress echocardiograms and advanced cardiac imaging. There will be minimal inpatient care activity associated with this position. The incumbent will primarily be based at of the Kernersville Health Care Center location. The incumbent will perform/interpret stress test procedures (nuclear, chemical and routine treadmill), cardioversions, interpret echocardiography studies including performing transesophageal echocardiograms, Holter monitor and EKG interpretations, conduct internal and external case reviews as directed. Provides education and counseling of veterans and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs. The physician will establish professional working relationship with clinical service providers within the medical center and the Healthcare Centers (HCC), providing telephone consultation/triage as needed and screening consults that are received for appropriateness prior to scheduling . Staff Cardiologists are ultimately responsible for the oversight of all aspects of cardiac medical care delivered to patients under their care. During scheduled tour hours, Staff Cardiologists shall be available for all urgent assessments and interventions. Applicants should have leadership skills and motivation to provide oversight of administrative operations, clinical care, and teaching with responsibilities that include the supervision of fellows from Wake Forest University Cardiology Fellowship Program. Applicant's length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Compensation Board in determining the salary of the applicant selected. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/17/2020. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
