The incumbent is a member of a team providing patient care, services, and support to an adult Veteran population with specialized needs and whose level of disability increases each year. The following duties are illustrative of, but not inclusive of the duties that the incumbent may perform at any time:
Receives and analyzes prosthetic requests and prescriptions from Licensed Independent Practitioners and works with the Prosthetics Program Manager to ensure that Veterans receive information about Prosthetic and Sensory Aids equipment, services, and benefits and that information and services provided to Veterans are in accordance with applicable regulations and directives. Receives phone calls, correspondence, and visits from Veterans, family members, Veteran Service Organizations, Home Based Primary Care teams (HBPC), private medical facilities, hospice care, nursing homes, assistive living facilities, and clinical staffs about eligibility, equipment, services, and benefits that are available and how to access these. Advises VA providers about availability, selection, and acquisition of a wide range of prosthetic and sensory aids devices and services and furnishes information concerning new developments in the prosthetics and sensory aids field and sources of supply for such items. Ensures that patients receive appropriate patient education/training and measurements for Prosthetic items prior to issuance and engages clinical services as needed. Effectively utilize an inventory management program to perform stock issues to take care of walk-in and immediate patients needs. Receives and analyzes electronic Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Services (PSAS) consults/prescriptions for items, services and home medical equipment from VA providers. Responsible for regularly monitoring consults to ensure they are acted upon in a manner consistent with VHA Prosthetics and Sensory Aids National Performance Standards Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
purchasing equipment and supplies through an automated process or through utilization of a purchase card; ability to interpret federal laws and regulations that pertain to eligibility and entitlement to determine treatment and provision of equipment to patients; and review incoming shipments for correct quantities and initiates paperwork to correct deficiencies. Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completion of four (4) years above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

The work is primarily sedentary however, the work requires some physical effort, such as some walking, stooping, bending, and carrying of items up to fifty pounds.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
