Medical Technician - Phlebotomist

Your duties can include but are not limited to the following:
Performs positive identification of patients and specimens throughout the entire process that includes specimen collection, accessioning, processing, and storage/distribution of patients specimens to clinical laboratory departments Performs phlebotomy using appropriate and established venipuncture techniques and universal precautions Collects fasting examples and sending to lab for stat testing Administers new employee or random employee drug screen specimen collection for testing Performs a variety of routine laboratory procedures including volumetric measurements, preparation of solutions such as glucose and lactose tolerance test solutions and preparing samples for analysis by centrifugation Measures 24-hour urine collections accurately and preparing aliquots for analysis processing and preparing test samples for shipping, using universal blood and body fluid precautions and lab and regulatory procedures for processing bio-hazard material for transport out to referral laboratories Operates laboratory equipment to prepare blood samples and other specimens in a safe and efficient manner Performs other duties as assigned DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:

Experience:
MUST possess one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the duties of the Medical Technician - Phlebotomist position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes:
(a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic, and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field, e.g., biological laboratory technician work that required application of the methods and techniques for the position to be filled. In addition to the experience referenced above for this grade level you may also possess the following specialized

MUST have successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study leading to a Bachelors' degree, with major study or at least twenty-four (24) semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One (1) year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as thirty (30) semester hours, forty-five (45) quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least twenty (20) hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately thirty-six (36) weeks in a business or technical school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR Combination of Experience and Education:
MUST have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-5 level. Only education in excess of the first sixty (60) semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (thirty (30) semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to six (6) months of specialized experience. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
