The Activities Assistantis responsible for assisting in the implementation of stimulating activities encompassing the following functional domains:
physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual.
You will also assist in planning and providing group/individual activities for the residents.
Duties involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Tasks also involve documentation of resident progress/attendance, other record keeping, attention to the environment, use of supplies and equipment, and maintenance of storage areas.
Activities may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports, music or drama.
The Activity Assistant should prepare equipment and ensure the safety of patients or participants in the activity.
Must be able use Microsoft products to include:
Word, and Outlook.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
High School diploma or equivalent required Six (6) months to one (1) year experience or related experience performing activity related duties.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action Self motivated and independent Knowledge of the aging process Pleasant, friendly, and engaging during resident and peer interactions Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others Ability to assume leadership role in the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
Flexibility in scheduling to assist with weekend and evening programming for the residents General knowledge of regulatory requirements for an activity program in a long-term care facility.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm.
Responsibilities and Duties Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
With direction from Activities Director.
Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, advertising, managing inventory and budgets, training and motivating volunteers or employees, and coordinating transportation.
With direction from Activities Director.
Observing participants at events gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
With direction from Activities Director.
Consistently maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation established by policies and regulatory requirements.
With direction from Activities Director.
Reporting medical concerns or observations.
Ensuring that events are well-provisioned, the event staff is trained and prepared, and that the event takes place on time and within budget.
Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.
You will report directly to the Activities Director.
